There's been a buzz of excitement at Explorer HQ in recent weeks with the arrival of several very important deliveries, including this wonderful watercolour by Rachel Toll.

Rachel's artwork will be showcased this autumn in our On the Brink collection, new for 2023.

This small collection of artworks will be exhibited alongside Sketch for Survival finalists in Norwich, Edinburgh and London and will be available to bid for in our online fundraising auction concluding Sunday 12 November 2023.

This is our seventh year of Sketch for Survival. Rachel has supported all six previous exhibition tours and auctions.

As a self-taught watercolour artist living and working in rural Mid Devon, Rachel takes great inspiration from the landscapes, wildlife and coasts of South West England.

Rachel was commissioned by Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines, to create art for his country house hotel and restaurant,  Lymphstone Manor on the River Exe in Devon. More than 60 individual artworks decorate the 21 rooms, which are named after birds,  as well as public areas. Wonderful watercolour landscapes by Rachel featuring the estuary and grounds were reproduced on wallpaper for the dining room, stairs and reception.

Rachel has recently been invited (as a non-member) to exhibit at the Mall Galleries' Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours - a great accolade.

The artwork, Where there are bees, there is hope features a Buff-tailed bumble bee in Rachel's distinctive style.
